Let us bring our hands-on science programs and planetarium shows to your school. miSci's outreach programs travel throughout the Capital Region and beyond. Complete offerings appear at the bottom of this page; click on your grade level for full program descriptions.
Special Library Outreach Programs (IMLS Grant Funding for MVLS Libraries)
Cents and $ensibility: Special Financial Literacy Programs for Grades 3-8 Classrooms
Outreach STARLAB Portable Planetarium Programs – presented by the Dudley Observatory in partnership with Capital Region BOCES and miSci.
$400 per school visit for up to 5 programs
The STARLAB portable planetarium dome is available through the school year and for summer programs. Schools interested in receiving BOCES aid can request the program through the Capital Region BOCES at 518-464-3999 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
All other schools, libraries, camps, community centers and organizations can schedule through miSci at 518-382-7890, x237.
Outreach Science Explorations and Demos
$125 for one hour
$100 for each additional hour
PLEASE NOTE: Each program (including consecutive occurrences of the same program) requires set up time. Times listed in program descriptions are for program length only and do not include set up time. Your reservationist will provide total length.
Travel fees apply for outreach locations outside Schenectady County.

Admission & Transportation Grants
Limited admission and transportation grants are available. After you have completed the Reservation Request Form (right click to save the form, then complete it), complete the Admission and Transportation Grant Application (right click to save the form, then complete it) and email to reservations@miSci.org or fax to 518-382-7893. Please note: we must have your Reservation Request Form to consider your Admission and Transportation Grant Application.
Payment by cash, check, credit card or money order is expected on or before the day of your visit. Payment must be consolidated into one transaction per group: one check, credit card or cash payment. You will be given complete instructions for payment when your reservation is finalized; please ask all payment questions when you make your reservation. Checks should be made payable to miSci.
By entering the museum facility and /or participating in a museum activity or event, you consent and authorize without restriction or compensation to the possible use of your and your accompanying group's image appearing in photograph, audio, video, or other formats which may be included in future media or marketing.
Choose Your Program(s)
STARLAB Portable Planetarium brings a 3-D planetarium experience to your earth science and space curriculums. An Astronomy Educator will bring the STARLAB portable planetarium dome to your site for experiential astronomy education. Requires clear floor space 20’ x 20’ with a ceiling of 11’ or more. Programs are 30-45 minutes depending on grade level and accommodate 30 students maximum per program. Hands-on Science Exploration
Explore science with inquiry-based, hands-on learning. Programs are geared to a variety of learning styles and include Q&A discussion, interactive demonstrations
and hands-on activities. Suggested grade levels are listed, but all programs can be modified to accommodate different ages - from preschool to adult. 45 Minutes 25 students maximum per program Interactive Science Demo
We present theories and concepts in a fun, engaging way, and you help illustrate basic scientific principles on topics including nanotechnology, physics, energy science, electricity, and hidden power.
